Who we are

About us

We are a team from Austria and Ukraine, working both in the EU and in Ukraine. The lawyers practise Ukrainian law and spent years checking counterparties and contracts by hand. The engineers, Austrian and Ukrainian, have worked with large data and with state registers. That is why Pravosvit is built the way a lawyer thinks — and stays clear to those who are not lawyers.

We build Pravosvit not to replace a lawyer, but to take away an hour of mechanical cross-checking — from the lawyer, and from those who have to check a counterparty without one. Whatever the system asserts, it must show in the text of the law. What it cannot show, it does not assert.

Three principles everything rests on

No conclusion without a source
The article, the verbatim quote, the link to the official source — otherwise the conclusion is not produced at all. Not because we decided so, but because the system simply will not show it.

A statutory requirement and best practice are different things. In the report they carry different labels, and the strength is set by the rule catalogue, not by the model.

Data from primary sources, with a date
Registers come straight from the open data portal, legislation from zakon.rada. If the data is out of date, that is written next to it rather than hidden.

Where the data comes from

Open state sources only. Reuse is permitted by Article 10-1 of the Law of Ukraine on Access to Public Information (including commercial use, with attribution) and Article 6 of the Law on Access to Court Decisions. We do not circumvent protection and do not use closed sources.

  • State company register — companies and sole traders — Ministry of Justice, data.gov.ua
  • Debtor register — open enforcement proceedings — Ministry of Justice, data.gov.ua
  • Court judgment register — court judgments — the official extract from the State Judicial Administration
  • Insolvency — insolvency cases — State Judicial Administration, data.gov.ua
  • Tax arrears — the tax service, data.gov.ua (data for a past period — the date is shown on the card)
  • Sanctions — the state register of sanctions
  • Legislation — codes and statutes — zakon.rada.gov.ua, the revision in force on the date of the contract

Next to every figure you can see the date of the data. Every record in a report leads to its official source.
